Kiss kids shout out loud online
A&E Television Networks (AETN) is to expand the reach of its reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels with a number of online brand extensions. The show follows former KISS bassist Simmons and his family and is reminiscent of MTV’s The Osbournes.
Steve Ronson, EVP, Enterprises at AETN, said that it will use the internet to focus on Simmons’ kids – Nick and Sophie. "Gene Simmon’s popularity and the popularity of his family and the show is just growing to the point where we’ll probably do some cool things on broadband next, take a left turn on the show and talk about his son or his daughter," he said.
The operator is also considering the international roll out of US-based online channels and channel services delivered via mobile.
Sean Cohan, SVP, International, said it was considering rolling out general entertainment net A&E and a targeted military history channel. "With the falling costs of delivery and new options for distributing, like broadband and mobile, niche properties like the military history channel are more viable," he said.
