Worldwide sales for Eisner’s Prom Queen
Prom Queen, the internet series produced by former Disney chief Michael Eisner’s online production company Vuguru, has been sold to a number of countries including France, Russia the UK and Brazil.
The show, a teen slasher series that has aired via Myspace and Bud.Tv in the US, will air internationally early next year after French producer and distributor Cyber Group Animation struck a number of international distribution deals with Vuguru parent The Tornante Company.
Cyber Group Animation is run by chairman and CEO Pierre Sissman, who worked with Eisner at Disney. Sissman told TBIvision that he has sold the show to a variety of internet platforms, mobile operators as well as traditional broadcasters.
In France, the show will air across TV on Lagardere’s Filles TV and on the internet and on mobile. The show has also been sold to Brazil, to Russian content aggregator Tvigo and to the Ukraine. In the UK, Cyber Group has inked deals with mobile operators and has also worked closely with advertising agencies.
"It’s going to be sponsored, a mix between platforms and brands. We’re getting fees and percentages," he said.
Cyber Group is also in talks with Vuguru to coproduce another online series to debut in 2008, while Vuguru is also expected to announce a third season Prom Queen.
