US producer and distributor Alchemy Television has sold its slate of talent packed mini-series and television movies to Spanish broadcasters.
The company has sold 2x90mins action thriller Burn Up to Mediaset-owned network Telecinco and 2x90mins drama Diamonds to Antena3.
Burn Up, which stars Bradley Whitford (The West Wing) and Neve Campbell (Scream) was commissioned by the BBC and is produced by Spooks-producer Kudos. It follows a number of environmental campaigners, oil executives and politicians as they fight to save the world. The two part series, which was originally planned for Channel 4, has a budget of US$15m. Canada’s Global TV has also picked up the show.
Meanwhile, Diamonds, a two part series that stars James Purefoy (Rome) and Judy Davis (Marie Antoinette) follows an international diamond web. It has been produced in association with Sienna Films and Philo Films and will air on Canada’s CBC and France’s Canal+.
