ABC Family announces schedule
US cable network ABC Family has unveiled its latest programming schedule, including three new original series and international acquisitions.
The Disney-owned broadcaster is to launch sci fi series The Middleman, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, written by 7th Heaven creator Brenda Hampton and mini series Samurai Girl.
Tom Zappala, head of acquisitions and scheduling at ABC Family, told TBIvision that The Secret Life of the American Teenager is like Juno with Molly Ringwald, while The Middleman is a "Men in Black style monster romp".
This follows recent acquisitions including CBC’s female skewing comedy Sophie, which is produced by Sphere Media, and That ‘70s Show.
It will also launch a raft of TV movies including Picture This, starring High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale and The Circuit with Buffy The Vampire Slayer’s Michelle Trachtenberg.
Hit series Greek, Lincoln Heights and Kyle XY are all returning for new seasons.
