BBC, Hat Trick to produce Krod Mandoon with MRC

British public broadcaster the BBC has joined forces with US cable network Comedy Central to develop fantasy comedy Krod Mandoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.

The live action show, which will launch at the beginning of next year, will be produced by US producer Media Rights Capital and UK indie Hat Trick Productions.

Keith Samples, head of TV at MRC, told TBIvision that Hat Trick and the BBC came on board after Comedy Central commissioned the show.

"It’s a medieval workplace comedy like [The Office] meets Conan the Barbarian. We’ll be shooting through August 25," he added.

The character driven comedy, which is written by Peter Knight, follows reluctant hero Krod, a sensitive freedom fighter, who becomes the last great medieval hope.
