The CW picks up Canada’s 4Real
The CW is the latest US network to acquire a finished Canadian programme after US producer Media Rights Capital inked a deal to bring documentary series 4Real to the channel.
Media Rights Capital, which has a Sunday night block on the youth skewing channel, signed an agreement with Canadian producer Direct Current Media, which produced the show for commercial broadcaster CTV and pay network MTV Canada.
The 8x1hour series follows a number of celebrities including Cameron Diaz, Red Hot Chili Pepper Flea and Eva Mendes as they travel to some of the poorest parts of the world to highlight international social issues.
The show is currently airing on National Geographic Channels internationally.
This deal follows the sale of Canadian shows such as thriller The Listener to NBC and cop drama Flashpoint to CBS.
