Endemol hires Disney’s Toumazis

Endemol has appointed Disney ABC ESPN Television managing director, EMEA and Canada Tom Toumazis as chief commercial officer.

The surprise move marks Endemol’s move to boost its scripted programming division, particularly in drama and comedy.

New CEO Ynon Kreiz has stated his wish to build Endemol’s third party distribution business, scripted sales and pre-sales and co-productions

Toumazis, who has been responsible for the distribution of hit Disney shows such as Lost and Desperate Housewives, is expected to move to the formats giant before the end of the year. He joined the US studio seven years ago as SVP and managing director of Buena Vista International Television, EMEA.

Kreiz, who joined the Big Brother producer in June this year, previously headed up Fox Kids Europe, the Disney-owned channel operator that was later rebranded Jetix.
