SIC acquires Endemol’s Wipeout

Portuguese commercial broadcaster SIC has commissioned a local version of hit gameshow Wipeout after striking a deal with Endemol.

This comes as the independent production company appoints a new managing director – Lurdes Guerreio. She replaces Piet Hein Bakker, who left Endemol at the end of last year.

Lurdes was previously creative director at the company, having joined in 1999 as executive producer. She will preside over a number of new commissions; as well as Wipeout, Endemol is currently producing Wheel of Fortune for SIC and as yet untitled dance format for public broadcaster RTP.

Endemol Portugal already has a number of Portuguese remakes of international formats including Big Brother, Singing Bee and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
