MTV UK unveils latest slate
MTV UK has unveiled its new season of original series with a raft of reality shows and observational docs.
The new shows include Peaches: Disappear Here, Kerry Katona – Whole Again and The Celebrity Agency. It has also recommissioned a second season of Laguna Beach remake Living on the Edge and will air the fourth season of hit scripted reality series The Hills.
Peaches: Disappear Here follows Bob Geldof’s daughter as she attempts to launch her own magazine with the help of former Loaded editor James Brown. The Celebrity Agency tracks agent Jonathan Lipman as he looks after his ‘celebrity’ clients including Paul Gascoigne’s daughter Bianca and footballer’s wife Charlotte Mears, while Kerry Katona – Whole Again is a one off doc concentrating on the former Atomic Kitten’s latest boob job.
Heather Jones, director of television, MTV Networks UK and Ireland, said: "This means we’re going to have 50 hours of original commissions." She added that the network was also set to launch a slate of shortform series later this year.
Meanwhile, Jones has been handed a number of additional roles, adding responsibility for all music and comedy acquisitions across MTV Networks’ territories outside of the US. As a result she will work closely with MTV Networks Internationals’ EVP, music brands Antonio Camp Dall’Orto and the company’s regional programming teams.
