MTV Poland launches video player
MTV Networks International is launching an online video player in Poland that will air a mix of hit MTV shows and international acquisitions.
The international broadcaster has inked a deal with Polish telecoms operator Netia to launch the Switch2One service. The iPlayer-esque site will air 200 hours of programming from the MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and Viva brands as well as acquired content.
Izabella Wiley, General Manager and Vice President, MTV Networks Poland, told TBIvision that it acquired the digital rights to Wlatcy Moch, a South Park-esque adult comedy that originally aired on TV4, and is looking for more animation.
"Normally in MTV we’d be developing this content around one brand, like MTV or The Daily Show, but we decided to mix everything together. People go to YouTube to watch fragments of shows so this will be the place you’ll be able to see the Viacom shows, whole episodes," she added.
