US election results: which shows are a turn on for Republicans and Democrats?
South Park is the most engaging cable series for right-wing voters while Deadliest Catch is a hit among the political left, according to figures from the Nielsen ratings agency.
Nielsen revealed its latest findings – its Engagement Analysis 2008 – looking at which cable series Republican and Democrat voters paid most attention to.
Republicans were most engaged with MTV’s animated comedy series South Park (perhaps for material to be appalled by), All3Media International distributed format Cash Cab and Sony Pictures Television International’s Glenn Close fronted legal drama Damages.
Democrats were most likely to pay attention to Comedy Central fake news series The Colbert Report, Discovery action fishing series Deadliest Catch, FX comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and, somewhat surprisingly, History Channel redneck reality series Ax Men.
Meanwhile, the most bi-partisan series – those without any political bent – included A&E’s Benjamin Bratt drama The Cleaner, which is distributed by CBS Paramount, Lifetime drama Army Wives and MTV’s The Hills.
