Five inks US content deals
UK commercial broadcaster Five has acquired a raft of US programming. Shows include Comedy Central’s animated series Ugly Americans and Steven Seagal-fronted cop drama True Justice.
The RTL-owned broadcaster also picked up FremantlMedia’s web series-to-TV comedy Secret Girlfriend, which follows a group of men drinking and looking to get girls, as well as the third season of Showtime’s David Duchovny-fronted comedy Californication.
Ugly Americans, which is distributed by MTV Networks International, is a 14x30mins adult animated series that centres around a social worker who helps a group of vampires, wizards and devil creatures adapt to life in New York. It is exec produced by Daniel Powell and The Simpsons writer David Stern.
True Justice, which is produced and financed by The Hurt Locker-producer Voltage Pictures, is a 13x1hour cop drama that follows Seagal’s character Ethan Kane in Seattle busting crime.
The broadcaster has also commissioned 10x30mins scripted drama Getting It. The show, which is produced by UK indie Camden Creative, follows young fashion reporter Lydia Harrison as she works the London fashion scene.
The shows will air on Five’s digital channels Fiver and Five USA.
