Exclusive: CEE broadcasters to remake FremantleMedia’s Recipe To Riches

Central and Eastern European broadcasters TV Barrandov and TV Joj are to remake FremantleMedia’s new cooking format Recipe To Riches.

It marks the first two international deals for the Canadian cooking format that the distributor picked up earlier this year.

Recipe To Riches was originally produced by Canadian producer Temple Street Productions for Food Network Canada. It is a reality competition series where home cooks battle for cash prizes and the chance to have their original recipe turned into a new product sold into supermarkets.

“It’s the American Idol of food,” Vasha Wallace, senior VP, acquisitions and development, FremantleMedia. “It’s a primetime series and it’s just about to launch in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.”

Network Ten in Australia is also reportedly in talks to produce a local version of the show, although no deal has yet been struck.
