Turner to launch two kids channels across Asia

Turner is launching two new kids channels across Asia as its expands its channel portfolio in the region.

The company’s Asian division Turner Broadcasting System, Asia Pacific, is launching boy skewing network Toonami and European preschool channel Cartoonito. Both channels will launch early next year and will sit alongside Turner’s existing kids channels Cartoon Network, Boomerang and POGO.

Toonami, which is based on a programming block from Cartoon Network in the US, is an action and anime channel and will air series including Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Dragon Ball Z and Young Justice.

Meanwhile, Cartoonito is aimed at children between three and seven and will air series including LazyTown, My Little Pony and Noddy in Toyland.

“The addition of Toonami and Cartoonito means that Turner will now offer a robust kids’ entertainment experience for all ages and interests. We’re bringing two of Turner’s highly successful international brands to Asia to meet a growing demand for premium quality action-adventure and younger-skewing content,” said Sunny Saha, senior VP and managing director, Entertainment Networks, Turner International Asia Pacific.
