Marathon Media, Nick and Gulli team for new animated kids series
France-based Marathon Media and French DTT channel Gulli are joining forces with Nickelodeon to make a new animated comedy series Blake and the Aliens (WT).
The 52x13mins series, with its ‘squash and stretch’ style will be the first of its kind from Marathon, which is part of Zodiak Media.
Vincent Chalvon-Demersay, CEO and David Michel, general manager, Marathon Media said: “We’re thrilled to be producing Blake and the Aliens. This board-driven cartoon series with truly delirious characters is a first for Marathon Media.”
Nick’s involvement marks its first development partnership with a French producer around an acquired series. “This proven model enables us to deliver relevant content that resonates with our audiences worldwide and Blake and the Aliens will be a fantastic addition,” said Jules Borkent, senior VP, global acquisitions and international programming for Nickelodeon.
The series follows 13 year old Blake who, one morning, is jumped by three alien squirrels intent on stopping him become the future famous Captain Blake, Defender of the Universe. It will be exec produced by Antoine Guilbaud (Phineas & Ferb) and Kaz Prapuolenis (SpongeBob SquarePants) and written by Reid Harrison (Rekkit Rabbit, The Simpsons).
