Zodiak inks first-look deal with Western Front

Zodiak Rights has agreed a first-look deal with UK-based indie Western Front Films. The distributor will launch two shows from the factual producer at MIPCOM, Meet The Izzards and America’s Secret War Plan Revealed.

Meet The Izzards

Meet The Izzards is a two-part doc for BBC One in the UK. It follows comedian Eddie izzard as he uses his own DNA to relay the story of modern humans and to trace the earliest roots of his own ancestry.

America’s Secret War Plan Revealed is a one-off doc for UK free-to-air broadcaster Five about a 1930s plan from the US government to start a war with the British.

Another show, Britain’s Holiest Places, a six-part doc for BBC Four, will be distributed by Zodiak under the terms of the first-look deal, but is not ready for MIPCOM as it does not debut in the UK until next year.

Western Front was created in 2011 by Nick Watts (managing director) and Eric Harwood (creative director).

Western Front join a raft of first-look producers represented by Zodiak Rights including Firecracker Films (Big Fat Gypsy Wedding Producer) and betty (The Food Hospital).
