Entertainment One gets on board Philip Seymour Hoffman’s HBO show Upstate
Entertainment One (eOne) has become a coproduction partner on Philip Seymour Hoffman’s upcoming HBO series Upstate.
The series, about a prison officer in the US, will be made by Seymour Hoffman’s Cooper’s Town Productions and eOne.
Michael Rosenberg will executive produce for eOne, which has previously worked with HBO on the Alexander Payne comedy series Hung, which was recently renewed for a third season.
Upstate follows recently laid-off Roy Perkins as he relocates his family to rural America to become a correctional officer in a new private prison run for profit. As the town and his family prosper, Roy encounters conflict and danger inside and outside the prison walls. Seymour Hoffman will executive produce the series and is not expected to star.
Separately, eOne has agreed a deal with technology firm Aurasma and will launch a free app, providing augmented reality experience around shows including Primeval: New World and Haven. At launch the free app will only be available in the US and Canada.
