CNN buys Lance Armstrong exposé
As the scandal surrounding Lance Armstrong’s alleged doping continues to unfold, CNN has bought The World According to Lance, a one-off documentary about the disgraced cyclist.
Turner-backed current affairs channel CNN will air the film on its US channel in primetime on Saturday, 27th October.
The doc is produced by Australian public broadcast ABC for its investigative journalism programme Four Corners.
The 1x45mins show is fronted by ABC reporter Quentin McDermott who interviews people who worked for Armstrong and those who competed with and against him.
The doc traces events from before when Armstrong was diagnosed with cancer and detail over a decade of alleged drug taking.
Armstrong is still making headlines around the world after being named as a chief protagonist in a doping programme described in US anti-doping agency USADA’s recent report as the biggest in the history of sport.
The film is in the catalogue of ABC commercial, the rights exploitation arm of the Australian broadcaster.
It is distributed in selected territories by the ABC’s sales agent Journeyman Pictures, which, in addition to CNN (US) has also sold it to broadcasters including VRT (Belgium), TV2 (Denmark, Norway), CBC (Canada), M-Net (South Africa) and Prime (New Zealand).
