BBC cooks up Norway deal for Bake Off
BBC Worldwide has sold its hit cooking format The Great British Bake Off into Norway.
Viasat’s flagship channel TV3 has bought the format and it will be known locally as Hele Norge baker.
TV3’s head of programming, Åse Bendiksen, noted that the broadcaster beat out competition from other local broadcasters for the show, which has been a huge hit in the UK on BBC Two.
She said: “Baking is a TV trend that is spreading all over Europa these days, and we are looking forward to show this format to our viewers in 2013. Our aim is to get the whole nation engaged in baking.”
The Norwegian agreement follows a deal with CBS for a local version of the show. That was brokered directly by its producers Love Productions.
BBC Worldwide handles international sales in other territories. It has already sold Bake Off to Nine Network (Australia), Poland (TLC), Belgium (VTM), Ireland (TV3), Denmark (DR), Sweden (TV7/Sjuan) and France (M6).
