Horror Channel picks up scary foreign titles
CBS Chello Zone UK has acquired a raft of international horror series and movies as part of the Horror Channel’s forthcoming Winter Chills Weekend.
The broadcaster, which is a joint venture between the US broadcaster and the Liberty Global-owned European firm, has picked up Norwegian Nazi zombie feature Dead Snow, Scandinavian slasher flick Blood Runs Cold and classic horror feature The Thaw.
It has also acquired the rights to dark science fiction series Dark Angel. The show, which stars Jessica Alba, originally aired in the States on Fox.
All of these titles will launch on The Horror Channel’s Winter Chills Weekend block, which launches in November.
Chris Sharp, chief programming officer at CBS Chello Zone UK Channels, said: “The Winter Chills Weekend offers the perfect opportunity for our viewers to enjoy a raft of horror programming. We are really pleased with how the line up has come together; Nordic thrillers such as The Killing and Borgen have been extremely successful in recent years gaining a huge UK following so we are confident that this same dark, brooding themes evident in both Dead Snow and Blood Runs Cold will have widespread appeal.”
