Dominoes wants slice of online movie market
Pizza takeaway chain Domino’s Pizza is launching an online movie service in the UK after signing a deal with movie studio Lionsgate.
Customers can use the Domino’s Pizza Box Office service to hire movies for £2.49 or £3.49, depending on the title. Movies can be streamed to PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets.
The deal with Lionsgate will see movie titles available on Domino’s Pizza Box Office at the same time as they are released on DVD. Titles available from launch include The Hunger Games, What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Scream and Dirty Dancing.
Guy Avshalom, COO, Lionsgate UK, said: “We are delighted to be working with Domino’s on this innovative new service and look forward to bringing our new releases and cult classics to pizza eaters in their homes across the country.”
Dominoes is the latest UK high street chain to launch a movie service. Earlier this year Sainsburys and KnowHow launched movie streaming services, while Tesco owns the Blinkbox platform.
