TVF International catches rights to Sky’s Flintoff series
British cricketer Freddie Flintoff is set to travel the world again after distributor TVF International acquired global rights to forthcoming sports entertainment series Freddie Flintoff The Gloves Are Off.
The 3x1hour series is produced by Fulwell 73 Productions, the British production company that has produced series including Gary Barlow: On Her Majesty’s Service and This Is Justin Bieber.
It will air on Sky 1 HD later this year and follows Flintoff as he trains with former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan and his son Shane as well as stints with Mike Tyson and Sugar Ray Leonard. The series culminates with a live boxing match in front of a crowd of 15,000, which will be broadcast live on boxing channel BoxNation.
The deal was struck TVF International’s head of programming and acquisitions Alice Hamlett.
It follows the success of Zigzag-produced eight-part series Freddie Flintoff Versus The World, which was distributed by TVF.
“We have sold Freddie Flintoff Versus the World to over 120 countries and are certain that this new series will prove to be equally as popular. Demand for high-end male skewed programming is insatiable. With the addition of these fantastic titles to our catalogue we are able to satisfy that demand and continue to be the world’s leading distributor of factual content,” said Bennetts.
