Zodiak acquires rights to Sound of Music doc
Zodiak Rights has acquired the international rights to Sound of Music documentary Climbed Every Mountain, which will air on the BBC later this year.
Climbed Every Mountain is a one-off doc produced by Northern Upstart, which has produced Let The Stories Begin for Sky Atlantic and Bootlegged Booze for Current TV.
The one-hour film tells the true story of The Von Trapps, the family featured in The Sound of Music. It is told by Nicholas Hammond, who plays Friedrich Von Trapp in the film, and sees him return to Austria to investigate why Salzburg resents the film and why it only recently hosted its first ever performance of the musical.
Andreas Lemos, VP, factual acquisitions and programming, Zodiak Rights said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Northern Upstart on bringing the fascinating story behind The Sound of Music to audiences worldwide – the perfect complimentary piece to the much loved musical in Christmas schedules, and beyond.”
