FremantleMedia helps offset ad revenue declines at RTL
RTL said that the strong performance of its content division FremantleMedia and its German channels arm helped mitigate the impact of declining ad revenues across the rest of its channels.
Pan-European broadcast group RTL said that the phasing of production and proceeds from the sale of a London building lifted FremantleMedia’s revenues in the three months to September.
However, revenue and profit figures for the producer and distributor were not given as RTL only discloses these in half and full-year results.
The company said that ad revenues declined across all of the territories in which it operates except Germany, where Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland registered an increase.
Quarterly group revenue increased 5.5% year-on-year, taking the total to €1.3 billion. EBITA profit increased 3% across the same period, taking the total to €165 million.
Profit for the January-to-September period, meanwhile, declined 9.8% to €671 million.
