Syfy orders gladiatorial reality series Robot Combat League
US cable network Syfy has ordered a new gladiatorial reality series – Robot Combat League – from Smart Dog Media.
The NBC Universal-owned broadcaster has commissioned the series from Smart Dog Media, the reality producer helmed by former NBC executive Craig Plestis that is responsible for producing series including Minute To Win It and Extreme Chef.
Robot Combat League will see eight-foot-tall robots compete against each other in a tournament style battle. The twelve teams will include a robo-jockey and a robotics engineer. The show, which is hosted by former WWE wrestler and Dancing with the Stars performer Chris Jericho, is similar to British reality series Robot Wars and Comedy Central’s Battle Bots.
Robot Combat League will launch on Syfy on Tuesday February 26 at 10pm.
