US net Starz acquires Alphanim animated series
US premium broadcaster Starz has acquired three animated series from French producer and distributor Alphanim.
The Chris Albrecht-helmed company, which operates the Starz Kids & Family channel, has picked up the US rights to 52x13mins adventure series The Green Squad, the second season of 52x13mins Gawayn and comic-book comedy Toto Trouble.
Starz already airs Alphanim-distributed series Santa’s Apprentice, Hairy Scary, Matt’s Monsters and Zombie Hotel.
“With these new sales, we are delighted to be continuing our relationship with the outstanding team at Starz,” said Pierre Belaisch, managing director of Alphanim. “We are confident that Starz will have tremendous success with all of these titles, specifically The Green Squad, our eco-travel show for kids which continues to sell remarkably well around the world.”
This comes as Alphanim has also struck a number of international deals for other titles. Australian public broadcaster ABC has picked up the second season of Gawayn; Disney Channel in South Korea has bought Mouss & Boubidi, while Eastern European kids broadcaster Megamax has taken Galactik Football for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
