Asian networks to remake Electus’ Fashion Star
A number of broadcasters across Asia are to produce local versions of Electus International’s fashion format Fashion Star, which was originally hosted and exec produced by Elle Macpherson.
Korean broadcaster SBS E! and Vietnam’s VTV3 are remaking the format after striking deals with the international arm of Ben Silverman’s production company.
Endemol India has also optioned the format and is taking it out to local broadcasters in the country.
These deals come ahead of the Asia Television Forum, which is held in Singapore this week.
The series was originally launched in the States via NBC, which has also commissioned a second season, and is also being remade in Australia, Germany, France and Turkey. It was developed by Silverman in association with 5×5 Media’s Rick Ringbakk and E.J. Johnston and James Deutch of EJD Productions.
“Asia is an incredibly important market for Electus International, so I’m thrilled to announce that we’re kicking off our push into local productions through series commitments of Fashion Star in Korea and Vietnam, said John Pollak, president of Electus International. “Fashion Star is a unique and compelling format that resonates universally as it fuses entertainment with commerce to build the next big fashion brand.”
