US cable net Bravo moves into scripted with two pilots
US cable network Bravo is moving into the scripted business and has ordered two comedy pilots.
The NBC Universal-backed broadcaster has greenly two pilots; The Joneses and Rita.
The Joneses, which is produced by ABC Studios, is based on the 2009 movie starring Demi Moore and David Duchovny and centres around a fake family. It has been written by Life Unexpected creator Liz Tigelaar.
Rita, meanwhile, is based on the Danish format of the same name and centres around a private school teacher who struggles to raise her own children, while dealing with the kids at school. It is produced by Fox Television Studios and exec produced by The Killing producer Mikkel Bondesen of Fuse Entertainment.
“These pilots give us an opportunity to explore worlds and characters that are distinct from our unscripted programming,” said Andrew Wang, vice president of scripted development and production, Bravo. “Yet, both projects feature the memorable storylines and strong, unique characters that our Bravo audience craves.”
