Sweden’s TV3 greenlights Banijay’s Origins of Love
Swedish broadcaster TV3 is producing a local version of reality dating format Origins of Love after striking a deal with Banijay International.
The network has ordered 11x1hours of the format, produced by Nordisk FilmTV Sweden and will air in the spring 2013.
This comes after Norwegian broadcaster TV2 has picked up the series for a second season and Ukrainian network 1+1 commissioned a local version.
Origins of Love, which was originally created by Banijay-owned Nordisk FilmTV, sees singles of immigrant descent looking for love with a partner from the old country. The Swedish version will feature single men living in the United States being wooed by local women.
Luci Burnley, sales and acquisitions manager, Banijay International, said, “With Origins of Love we have discovered a really worthwhile and topical twist on the dating genre – it speaks to a modern audience and offers a solution for a very modern problem. I am delighted to see the show travel to Sweden and am sure that many more local versions will follow for this universal idea.”
