Yellow Bird to produce Will Trent crime novels in the US

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo producer Yellow Bird has acquired the rights to Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent crime novels and will create a raft of television movies based on the books.

The move will be one of the first times that Yellow Bird produces in the United States and is part of the firm’s plans to break into the US cable network.

The Zodiak Media-owned company inked the deal with the best selling crime author and will start with Triptych. It will produce three TV films based on the book and will shoot them in Atlanta, Georgia.

Slaughter will write the first script and act as executive producer alongside with Yellow Bird’s Ole Sondberg and Anni Faurbye Fernandez.

The Will Trent crime series features special agent Will Trent of Georgia Bureau of Investigation, his partner Faith Mitchell and their boss Amanda Wagner as they solve crimes in the area.
