Sundance orders unscripted TV series about the TV industry
Sundance Channel has commissioned The Writers’ Room, a reality show about the TV business.
Sundance and Entertainment Weekly jointly ordered the 6x30mins show, which will go behind the scenes and look into the writers’ rooms of hit TV series.
The show will debut in the second half of the year.
Sundance did not specify which TV shows would feature in the series, but said they would range from cable dramas to popular network sitcoms.
The series will be made by RelativityReal, the TV division of Relativity Media, the movie studio founded by Ryan Kavanaugh.
Sarah Barnett, general manager of the cable network said: “We know that much of today’s best entertainment is on television, but Sundance Channel and Entertainment Weekly want to know – who, what, when, where and why? Social media has given us a lot of information about what our audience is craving – and we are listening. They want insider knowledge and a deeper perspective– this show will deliver that”
