International ratings in for Oprah’s Armstrong interview
Discovery’s coverage of Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Lance Armstrong won its international networks 15 million viewers across 18 countries.
Discovery is a joint venture partner in OWN: Oprah Winfrey Channel and it carried Winfrey’s exclusive interview live on a host of its international nets. It was simulcast across Canada, Western Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
The cumulative 15 million viewers include the 800,000 who tuned in on OWN Canada, the only territory outside the US that carries the cable channel.
OWN already released domestic US ratings, that showed the first part of the two-night event was the second most-watched show in its history.
Discovery said that interview was the highest rating show ever on TLC South Africa and the number one Discovery title on Discovery UK.
The interview was also streamed live, attracting an audience of 800,000.
