Kids producer SLR hires ABC commissioner Helen Thwaites

Helen Thwaites, a longstanding commissioner and buyer at Australian public broadcaster the ABC, has joined kids producer SLR.

In a 15-year career at the ABC, Thwaites was head of acquisitions and most recently business affairs manager, commissioned [kids] content. Prior to the ABC she had several positions at Southern Star, including head of acquisitions.

At SLR she will be head of business affairs, overseeing the producer’s current and future slate.

SLR has also hired Jo Tucker as head of finance. She joins from group buying service Our Deal, prior to which she was finance manager at Network Ten’s digital media division.

SLR makes kids shows including Guess How Much I Love You – The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare.

Speaking about Thwaites and Tucker’s joining SLR, company founder Suzanne Ryan  said: “Their appointments come at a time when the company is continuing to grow as we expand into consumer digital content via the ‘Guess How Much I Love You – Interactive Episodes’ iPad application and our first live-action production, Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures.”
