BBC Worldwide says 10% uptick in buyers attending Showcase
BBC Worldwide says that 700 international buyers will attend the 2013 version of its annual Showcase event, a 10% year-on-year increase.
Showcase has relocated from Brighton to Liverpool and starts on February 24. The event generates about 20% of Worldwide’s programme sales revenue.
Key series that Worldwide will be pushing to the buyers in attendance include blue-chip natural history offering Africa (pictured) and drama series A Young Doctor’s Notebook, starring Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe, as well as new episodes of Doctor Who and Luther.
Steve Macallister, Worldwide’s outgoing president & managing director, sales & distribution, BBC Worldwide, said: “In another record-breaking year, we welcome our largest number of buyers to Liverpool – up by 10% on last year. We have a great slate of new titles across every genre and are delighted to be hosting some superb on screen talent over the four days of the event.”
