Spain’s Telecinco takes the plunge with diving format
Spanish free-to-air broadcaster Telecinco has ordered a local version of Banijay International’s diving format Stars In Danger: High Diving.
Banijay’s Cuarzo Producciones will produce the Spanish version, which will air on Telecinco in 2013.
Banijay International will also handle finished tape sales for the Spanish adaptation.
This is the seventh license deal for Stars in Danger: High Diving negotiated since MIPCOM 2012, with Fox US, Jiangsu Satellite Television China, V Canada, Mediaset Italy, TV2 Norway and TV3 Sweden all taking local adaptations.
Banijay is locked in a legal dispute with Eyeworks over their respective diving-based formats.
While that rumbles on, both have been successful selling their shows with Eyeworks’ Celebrity Splash having sold to broadcasters including US network ABC, ITV in the UK, Telefe in Argentina, Seven Network in Australia and TF1 in France.
