Russian advertising market sees lower growth in 2012
Overall annual growth in the advertising market in Russia slowed last year to 13%, according to the country’s Association of Communication Agencies (AKAR). The total value of the market was about RUB300 billion (US$10 billion). The rate of growth was considerably lower than the 21% recorded in 2011.
TV advertising accounted for RUB143.2 billion, up 9%, with cable and satellite channels turning in RUB3.31 billion in advertising revenue, up 27%. Internet advertising produced revenues of RUB56.3 billion, up 35%. By way of comparison, ad revenue from print media overall was RUB41.2 billion, up 2%.
AKAR said the market performed better slightly better than expected by most analysts.
