Zuku commissions original doc series
African pay TV operator Zuku has ordered an original documentary series From Here to Timbuktu.
The factual show will look at the history and lives of people living in iconic parts of Africa and will examine how countries and people on the continent are dealing with globalisation.
The producers said that the stories will be told through real-life characters “putting a human face to the intersection of a complex past and an equally complex present that characterises 21st century Africa”.
Series one will visit locations including Lamu in Kenya, Zanzibar in Tanzania, and Uganda.
The series was developed for Zuku by Kenyan indie, On Screen Productions, which last year produced athletics doc Setting the Pace for the Zuku Sports channel.
The From Here to Timbuktu commission follows recent deal between Zuku and Fox International Channels under the terms of which FIC licensed Zuku’s original series Tales from the Bush Larder.
