Pioneer making fast turnaround meteor strike doc
UK producer Pioneer is making a one-off doc about the meteor that landed in Russia earlier this month.
The 1x60mins documentary, Meteor Strike: Fireball from Space, has been commissioned by UK free-to-air broadcaster Channel 4.
Jill Fullerton-Smith commissioned the doc for C4, which will air it on Sunday, March 3.
FremantleMedia will handle international sales.
It will examine events surrounding the meteor, which landed in Russia on February 15, injuring 1,000 people. Pioneer said it has previously unseen footage and the doc will also look at what measures can be taken to protect the earth from further strikes.
Kirstie McLure, senior VP & managing director, Pioneer Productions, said: “The film will have some never-before-seen footage taken from the day, by the people who lived through it – capturing the important human element of this event.”
