Gary Carter joining Shine Group

FremantleMedia COO Gary Carter is joining Shine Group where he will take the new role of chairman of Northern Europe and Shine 360°.

Carter resigned from producer and distributor FremantleMedia last year and will join Shine in June.

In the new role he will oversee the creative and operational functions of Shine Germany, and the Nordic regions’ Metronome group of production companies in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. He will also work on off-air ancillary products division Shine 360°.

At Shine he will be based in Amsterdam.

Prior to FremantleMedia, Carter was executive director of programme affairs at what was then Endemol International.

At Shine he will report to Group CEO Alex Mahon. She said: “Having worked with [Gary], I know his qualities and huge experience will be invaluable to our Nordic and German companies and indeed to the Shine Group as a whole.”

Carter said; “I greatly look forward to concentrating on vibrant markets within Northern Europe like Germany, and to reviving a professional relationship with the Nordic region that began in the mid-90s with the world premiere of Survivor, and continued with the subsequent launch of Big Brother by the Metronome group.”

The appointment follows recent executive Shine Group appointments that include Rich Ross CEO, Shine America, Tim Robinson as COO, Shine Group and the launch of Shine Latin America under Cristina Palacio.
