MIPTV News: Discovery’s Doki makes international leap
Doki, the animated series commissioned on the back of interest in Discovery Kids Latin America’s mascot character of the same name, is headed to MIPTV.
The preschool show will topline Canadian vendor Portfolio Entertainment’s slate, which also includes other new kids’ shows and factual content.
Doki began life as a host character on Discovery Kids Latin America in 2005 but was given a full series in January 2012 thanks to its huge popularity. Portfolio will be selling it in 26x30mins and 52x11mins formats.
“It isn’t every day you find a character that is so loved by kids without already having its own television show but Doki is just that,” said Portfolio Entertainment co-president and founder Joy Rosen.
Portfolio will also launch 1x60mins The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas! following its launch in the US on PBS and Treehouse TV in Canada.
New factual content includes the 26x30mins season two of You Gotta Eat Here.
