Sky Vision takes ITN series to MIPTV
BSkyB-owned distributor Sky Vision has acquired rights to three titles from current affairs producer ITN Productions – one looking at one of the UK’s most famous independent schools.
The 8x60mins Harrow will launch on BSkyB’s flagship pay TV channel Sky1 HD later this year and will offer “an insightful and comprehensive look at one of the UK’s most recognisable schools”, Harrow School in northwest London, focusing on one of its twelve school houses.
Sky Vision heads into for its first MIPTV since its former identity, Parthenon Entertainment, was replaced with new branding and launched at MIPCOM in October. This followed Sky’s acquisition of Parthenon as part of a plan to better exploit its growing slate of original programming.
Also new to the vendor’s slate is Motor Morphers, a 4x60mins factual entertainment show due to air later this year on UK terrestrial Channel 5 and presented by The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury. The show pits two teams of engineers against each other in a competition to take old vehicles and turn them into machinery capable to completing incredible tasks.
Antiques , meanwhile, a 24x60mins competition series sees teams hunt treasures in beautifully recreated period rooms.
Emma Read, head of factual and features at ITN Productions, said: “These three popular factual series should have worldwide appeal as they each bring something new to market. The unique access we secured for the Harrow series – the first time that this world-renowned British institution has granted year-long access to TV cameras – should be of particular interest to international broadcasters.”
