MIPTV organisers announce delegate numbers for 50th anniversary market
The organisers of MIPTV said today that 11,000 delegates attended the fiftieth edition of the show.
The number is the same as that given for the 2012 show, but down 500 on the 2011 total.
Organisers Reed Midem said that by country there were significant increases in attendance from Russia (+18%), Ukraine (+30%), Brazil (+17%) and the United Arab Emirates (+58%). China also had its largest ever delegation at the market.
Reed Midem said there were 4,000 buyers in town, also the same number as last year. Of the buyer total, 800 came from the VOD and digital sector, a 30% increase on last year.
Specific numbers were not broken out for factual event MIPDOC and its digital and formats counterparts MIP Formats, in its fourth outing, and MIPCube. In 2012 they recorded attendances of 700, 600 and 500 respectively.
Organisers announced that Argentina will be the country of honour at MIPCOm this October.
“After a great first 50 years, we’re ready to start out on the next 50 year adventure,” said Laurine Garaude, director of Reed Midem’s Television division.
