AMC delves into original sci-fi
US cable channel AMC has ordered a new scripted drama – it’s first foray into original sci-fi programming – from the creator of Showtime crime series Brotherhood.
Line of Sight will be a coproduction between AMC Studios and Fox Television Studios and tell the story of a transport safety board investigator that survives a plane crash and then obsessively attempts to uncover its cause.
Writer Blake Masters (Brotherhood, Law & Order: LA) created the show, which goes into production later this year, and marks AMC’s first original sci-fi project.
“Blake Masters has created a world and set of characters that defies the traditional boundaries of drama and sci-fi. It’s got great elements of both genres while also having that unique blend of a conspiracy thriller. It is genuinely unexpected and unconventional,” said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s executive VP of original programming, production and digital content.
Stillerman; Susie Fitzgerald, senior VP of scripted programming; and Jason Fisher, senior VP of production, will oversee development and production.
