New sale for Banijay diving format
Banijay’s Stars in Danger: The High Dive has been sold into South America. The diving format has been picked up by Chilean commercial broadcaster Chilevisión, which will air a 12x120mins version of the format.
The show will have a primetime slot on the channel and debut later this year. It will be known locally as Salta Si Puedes (Jump if You Can).
The deal was brokered by Sony Pictures Television Latin America, which represents the format in the region.
Pablo Morales, Chilevision´s programming director, said: “We have followed the outstanding success of Stars in Danger: The High Dive around the world. The show combines all the best features of hit entertainment programming – difficult challenges, humorous situations and, of course, famous faces – and we’re confident it will make big waves in Chile.”
Karoline Spodsberg, managing director, Banijay International, said: “This deal is a significant step. SID is now on air or in production in most parts of the world, and we are hopeful that Chilevisión’s The High Dive will be the start of a strong roll-out throughout the Latin American region.”
The Banijay format and a rival show from Eyeworks, Celebrity Splash, have sold extensively. The two production and distribution companies remain locked in a legal dispute over the formats.
