NBC ends Deception, passes on new Hatfields pilot
US broadcast network NBC has cancelled its mystery drama Deception and, according to industry reports, passed on several pilots, including Charlize Theron’s remake of the Hatfields and McCoys story.
Deception, which ran for 11 episodes earlier this year, will not return for another series, its stars Meagan Good confirmed on Twitter.
The series followed Good as a San Francisco police detective investigating the death of her estranged socialite friend and has been binned despite promising ratings.
Meanwhile, Comcast-owned NBC has passed over several pilots, according to news first reported by Deadline. These are Theron’s new remake of period drama Hatfields & McCoys, which was initially developed on the back of the extremely successful miniseries on cable channel History; The Gates; Joe, Joe & Jane; The Secret Lives of Husbands & Wives; Bloodline; and The Sixth Gun.
