ABC takes up Quest
US broadcast network ABC has called on the producers of The Amazing Race and feature film The Lord of the Rings to help create a fantasy-themed reality adventure series.
The Quest will follow 12 contestants that enter the world of ‘Everealm’ – a fantasy-themed set filled with “epic” challenges.
Amazing Race creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri from Profiles Television have hooked up with Lord of the Rings exec producers Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming from Court Five and Green Harbor Productions’ Rob Eric and Michael Williams to produce the show.
ABC has also ordered Toy Story of Terror, an animated special based on the much-loved Pixar film franchise, and renewed Modern Family, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, The Neighbors, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Castle, Dancing with the Stars, Last Man Standing, The Middle, Grey’s Anatomy, The Bachelor, Nashville, Scandal, The Taste, 20/20, Shark Tank and Suburgatory.
In all, Disney-owned ABC confirmed 14 new series at its Upfront yesterday, including the seven dramas and five comedies unveiled earlier this week.
