Studio 100 launches film division
Kids producer and distributor Studio 100 has launched a new movie division, Studio 100 Film.
The new unit’s first project will be the Maya the Bee feature. It has international rights to Maya the Bee – Movie.
The company said that the launch “formalises Studio 100 Media’s strategic plans for growth into the movie business and defines an entry and presence in the burgeoning film market both domestically and internationally.”
Patrick Elmendorff, managing director of Studio 100 Media said: “Following on from the recent worldwide success of the new animated TV series Maya The Bee we are thrilled to announce the production of the first ever stereoscopic 3-D Maya The Bee movie for theatrical release. The launch of our film division is a logical step in the Company’s strategy to build and strengthen its own brands.”
Studio 100 Film has sold the rights to the movie to Universum Film for the German speaking territories and Monolith Films, which will handle the distribution in Poland. It will be released in German cinemas in September 2014.
The 3-D stereoscopic film is an Australian-German coproduction between Studio 100 Media and Buzz Studios.
