Spielberg making Halo series for Microsoft’s new Xbox One
Steven Spielberg will produce a new series based on the Halo games franchise for Xbox One, the next-generation console and entertainment system from Microsoft.
Microsoft launched the Xbox One yesterday and unveiled a range of other TV series and video content
Spielberg will executive produce the live-action Halo series, which will be made by Microsoft’s 343 Industries and Xbox’s in-house Xbox Entertainment Studios, which is run by ex-CBS president Nancy Tellem.
Halo has been made available for TV before with Content Television distributing Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (pictured), a live-action drama based on the games and developed to accompany the launch of Halo 4 on the Xbox 360.
The project was also produced by 343 Industries and Content launched it internationally earlier this year.
The new console will blur the lines between gaming and watching scripted TV content with Quantum Break, from Max Payne creators Remedy Entertainment, which Microsoft said will integrate drama and gameplay with each element informing how the other unfolds.
Owners of the new console owners can also watch live TV, Skype and access the OneGuide EPG through the Xbox One, which launches later this year.
