UK indie Tern hires former Zodiak exec, preps US expansion
UK independent producer Tern TV has recruited Ed Crick as its new creative director.
Crick joins Tern having left UK producer Bullseye Productions, which is part of the Zodiak Media group, last December. At Bullseye, which makes shows including the UK version of Doomsday Preppers for Nat Geo, Crick was managing director.
At Tern he will be joint creative director alongside Harry Bell and will also have a seat on the company’s board.
Tern is based in Scotland and Northern Ireland and makes fact-ent shows including Get up & Grow for the BBC and Russia’s Toughest with Vinnie Jones for Nat Geo in the UK.
Tern said that having hired Crick, a former director of development at TLC in the US, it will seek to expand into the US market. Crick “has been a significant creative voice in the US market for a decade – has contacts with all non scripted networks and deals in place with two partner producers,” the company noted.
Bell said: “Ed is a game changer. We’ve known each other since his TLC days and we’ve been looking for a way to work together for some time.”
Crick added: “Tern offers me all the creative and commercial freedom I was looking for. Together we will achieve more of our creative goals and work with a broader range of partners both in the UK and internationally.”
