LA Screenings 2013: CBS Studios cuts two European volume deals
As the LA Screenings come to a close, CBS Studios International has inked two volume agreements with European broadcasters.
The studio has locked in deals with Amedia in Russia and MTV3 in Finland.
In Russia, CBS has agreed a multiyear, multiplatform deal with Amedia, the producer and channel operator that earlier this week inked a wide-ranging output deal with HBO.
Its CBS deal gives it new network and cable series as well as existing titles including Elementary, Beauty and the Beast and Showtime’s Ray Donovan. The deal covers the Amedia linear pay TV channels – Amedia Premium HD and Amedia 1 – and its SVOD service.
Armando Nuñez, president and CEO of CBS Global Distribution, said: “We are excited to partner with Russia’s leading production company and newest broadcaster, Amedia, for our first volume deal in the market.”
“CBS is responsible for creating most of the best TV series in the world,” said Alexander Akopov, president of Amedia Group. “These will help us to establish ourselves as a leading pay TV and SVOD provider in the region, with the strongest portfolio of premium TV shows.”
In Finland, MTV will also get a range of new and library cable and network shows from CBS. Titles include Reckless, The Millers and hotly tipped period drama Reign (pictured). CBS and MTV already have a content deal with the Finnish broadcaster airing shows including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
